Joshua Gruber, M.D., Ph.D., is a breast cancer specialist and researcher in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology and the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center where he leads a lab studying how to make treatments more personalized for each patient. Dr. Gruber’s work focuses on understanding the “system biology” of breast cancer, meaning how all the pieces inside a cell work together to help cancer grow or respond to treatment. By mapping these networks, his team hopes to identify which therapies will work best for which patients, sparing them unnecessary side effects and getting them the most effective care faster. He trained at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania, and his research has been supported by the V Foundation 2022 V Scholar grant, Susan G. Komen and other leading cancer foundations.
